Dear Fall 2285 Student:

Prepare to engage with some hefty ideas: your brain will be doing heavy lifting for this class. The thinking is challenging, but you will have lots of support from Josh and your 2285 colleagues. While you will generate a product you can use in the classroom, the process you use to generate it is the real take-home from 2285.

Reading Understanding by Design takes time, but it pays off in your ability to make efficient use of your thinking time. Save yourself some time with the book about grading by focusing on the boxes at the end of each chapter; here you'll find the main points explaining what assessments and grading are really about.

Finally, follow Josh's advice to do your steps, come to class, and embrace revision, for it is sound advice.

Sincerely,

Lia Atherton

P.S.: I did not come close to filling a 2-1/2 inch binder for this class.
